ABSTRACT

This work presents the design and construction of an alternative household power generating system. The product is about to acquire knowledge on, is all about on how to convert your fuel generator to a fuel less generator.  Many people thought that it can never be in existence of having a product that can never deal with diesel or engine oil, but in this hand out the pictures below shows the true possibility of the technology. In our country today, many people took petroleum as their main source of generating currents in most aspects, such as generators, cars, motorcycles, etc. but this had made it easier for many people who can’t afford the money of buying petroleum (diesel/fuel) for the use of current generators daily.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1    BACKGROUND OF STUDY

One of the driving forces for social and economic development and a basic demand of nations is energy. Most of the energy production methods are one-way, which requires change of form for the energy. In parallel to developing technology, demand for more energy makes us seek new energy sources. Researches for renewable energies have been initiated first for wind power and then for solar power. Efficiency of solar power conversion systems is 18%, whilst that of wind power is 55%. These efficiencies could be increased by 50% with beam tracking, beam focusing and wind direction adaptive motion methods (Ogolo, 2007).

The aim of this work is design and constructs an alternative household power generating system. This work is expected to sustain some part of the daily domestic electricity consumption with an efficient utilization of a non-fuel generator.

1.2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The role played by electricity in developing nations cannot be overemphasized. In most developing and underdeveloped parts of the world, the supply of electricity for domestic use is not stable. Hence, this is necessitated the use of alternative sources of power supply to meet up with the power supply demands. The use of alternative sources of electricity supply need to be accomplished with little or no economic implication. Therefore, this work intends to carryout a design and construction of an alternative of household power generating system.

1.3. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The aim of this project is to design and manufacture a fuel less generator, capable of producing 1 – 3 KVA of electrical energy/ power. The objectives are:

a)     To design and manufacture of 3KVA fuel less generator.

b)    To evaluate the generator for performance.

c)     To explore an alternative which is affordable, convenient and efficient, just like our normal electricity. Here we will learn how to convert a fuel generator to a fuel less generator.

1.4.      SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

The importance of the study cannot be overemphasized. This is because this study will show how to convert a fuel generator to fuel less generator which will in turn be of economic benefit to the user.

Also, it will be of benefit to the Nigerian government since the innovation will bring about trade of new products. When trade is on government will generate revenue.

Finally, it will help students to be knowledgeable and grounded in electronics fundamentals.

1.5 REPORT ORGANIZATION

The organization of this project report is well detailed and vast in its coverage because it covers all the activities encountered during the project design. Chapter One of this work took care of the Introduction, Background, Aims and objective, significance, scope, limitations and Project report organization. Chapter Two highlight on literature review where it reviews and discusses past work of other authors on the subject matter. Chapter Three highlight design methodology. Chapter Four highlight on the implementation and testing. Chapter Five is all about the conclusions problem encountered recommendation and cost of the project.
